WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO

At the Shared Ground Project, we do what we do because we believe that youth voices have the power to inspire real change. Young people see the world with honesty, creativity, and hope, and when we share our stories, we bring fresh perspectives to global issues that too often go unheard. Our work is built on the values of unity, equity and understanding, coming together across borders, ensuring every voice is valued, and listening deeply to one another. Through international youth-led journalism, we aim to raise awareness, spark conversation, and remind the world that the next generation isn’t just the future, we’re part of the solution right now.

WHO WE ARE

My name is Kieran Lonieski, and I am the founder and CEO of the Shared Ground Project. I started the Shared Ground Project because I wanted to make a difference in the lives of young people and show my peers that there are people just like them across the world who care and share their concerns. I believe that when young people connect and understand one another, we can break down barriers and create real change. Every project and trip we do is funded by me, not my parents, because I wanted to take responsibility and invest in something I truly believe in. I got a job to make these projects possible, and every hour I work reminds me why this mission matters: to empower youth voices and build a world where empathy and awareness guide our actions.
